Our little Turkey is home for Thanksgiving!
After nearly 11 weeks in the hospital, Devin is finally at home! Yesterday we spent about 10 hours at the hospital getting everything in order for his discharge. He just requires a lot, so we needed to make sure we had all the right medicine, formula, feeding and meds schedule.
We know we had a very special team in our corner making it possible for Devin to come home. There was some push back since Devin will require such constant care at home, so they wanted to make sure Dan & I were capable of keeping up with it...and keeping our other boys alive as well. However, our cardiologist who knows Devin, and us very well made sure we could be home together, and we are so grateful.
Dan's family is keeping the 3 big boys a few nights so Dan & I can get into a rhythm with this new schedule for Devin without our little helpers around. Devin's vocal chord is still out, so I slept very lightly making sure I could hear if he was upset, or throwing up. He still has a hard time keeping his feeds down, so that is another prayer request that he would not be throwing up a lot and losing his meds and feeding tube. We are being very cautious, but still we can't control how he responds to everything going in his tummy.
While we are very excited to have Devin home for the holidays; it is still hard walking this journey and knowing several other families who lost their little heart warriors since we've been in the hospital. Would you please keep the families of Josiah, Jaylee, Leon, & Nayleigh in your prayers? My heart just breaks for them as I look at my little man here at home amd hold him, knowing their babies won't be home for the holidays. Devin is not perfect, but he's here.
We are grateful our little turkey is home with us. We know the months ahead will be difficult and long, but we are grateful to continue the fight in our home.
We are so thankful for all of you, and for praying, loving, and supporting our family through all of this! Devin's story is not over, but we are so blessed to start this new chapter at home with Devin.
